The actresses are allegedly in talks to be part of Disney's animated film which is slated for a 2015 release, claims The Hollywood Reporter.

According to the entertainment news portal, the "Avengers" actress and the award-winning "12 Years A Slave" star are both being considered to voice over characters in Disney's upcoming animated film adaptation of the classic story, "The Jungle Book."

The Hollywood Reporter says that Scarlett Johansson is in "earlier stages of talk" to play the voice of Kaa. Screen Rant describes the character as a villainous-type of animated python. In fact, Kaa is the second villain of the "The Jungle Book," being a python which eats other animals by hypnotizing them, notes The Hollywood Reporter.

On the other hand, Lupita Nyong'o is allegedly in final negotiations to play the voice of Rakcha, a mother wolf which adopts Mowgli, says the entertainment news portal.

Both actresses are allegedly excellent choices for the Disney film, says Screen Rant. "Johansson as Kaa is a bit outside the box, as far as casting choices that immediately spring to mind, but she certainly has the nuanced vocal mannerisms to play the role well," the outlet opined.

Screen Rant also sees Nyong'o playing the voice of Rakcha, saying, "she possesses an expressive voice that lends itself naturally to the field of voice-acting."

Should Johansson and Nyong'o be confirmed for the rumored "The Jungle Book" roles, the two will be joining Idris Elba who will voice over the story's top villain, Shere Khan, the man-eating tiger, notes The Hollywood Reporter.

Disney's "The Jungle Book" will be directed by Jon Favreau, who is also producing the film together with Bringham Taylor, reports the entertainment news portal. Screen Rant says that the upcoming film will open in 2D and 3D theaters on October 9, 2015 in the US.
