Apple and Samsung brace yourselves for another competitor!

Amazon is reportedly set to release its own version of a smartphone in the market this year. While there have been no specific dates on the phone's debut, analysts and bloggers predict that the smartphone is due in the coming months.

"We predict Amazon will launch its own brand smartphone in 3-6 months, using the same hardware strategy as used for its eReader and tablet," KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo told Trusted Reviews.

Amazon gained popularity for its online market, but it has also successfully ventured into hardware products such as the Kindle tablets that have become one of the company's best-selling products. Recently, Amazon Fire TV was also added to its list of products, introducing live web streaming to television as one of its services.

Sophisticated

Tech Blog Boy Genius Report (BGR) first revealed a sneak-peak of the Amazon phone its site.

BGR said that the first Amazon phone would be distinguished from its rival handsets such as the iPhone and Samsung's Galaxy series as it combines camera, sensors and software that would result to 3D effects.

The unidentified source from BGR said that the sophisticated and customized phone would also introduce gesture controls compared to the ordinary smartphone that utilizes tapping and touching the screening.

In that case, users will be able to access all the information on the phone by just tilting the device.

The Amazon phone will no longer have the menu buttons, tilting the phone will reveal information on the functions of the apps such as email, maps, calendar, and of course, messaging. Photos can be easily inserted to the messages as tilting the handset opens the panel for the camera to roll.

Outside the box

Analysts also predict that Amazon's new product would be a hit, just like the Kindle and the FireTV.

"Congratulations to Amazon.com for thinking outside the box," Jeff Kegan told CNN. However, he warned that there are other companies that tried but have little success.

"The next biggest player is Microsoft Nokia and they only have a few percent market share," he explained.

CNN sources said that the Amazon intends to release two kinds of smartphones. Amazon is yet to confirm in any of the reports.
