The mother in the "How I Met Your Mother" spin-off series now has a voice, reports Entertainment Weekly.

According to the entertainment news website, Meg Ryan has been cast as the narrator for the upcoming series, "How I Met Your Dad." Ryan will be playing the unseen role of the older Sally, the mother in the spin-off series. The role will be pretty much the same as that of Bob Saget's in the "How I Met Your Mother" series, wherein the actor was heard but not seen, being the voice of Ted from the future.

The upcoming series has been gaining traction after the parent series concluded. According to TV Line, Sally, the female version of Ted in the upcoming spin-off series, will be played by "Francis Ha" actress, Greta Gerwig.

"Sally is a vibrant, messy and unpredictable character - a 'female Peter Pan who has never grown up and has no idea of where she's going in life,'" says TV Line. According to the plot of "How I Met Your Dad," Sally is allegedly considering getting a divorce from her husband, Gavin and turns to her friends for support throughout the separation.

In another report, TV Line notes that Gavin, the dad in "How I Met Your Dad," will be played by Anders Holm.

Meg Ryan is famed for her roles in films of the romantic comedy genre such as "When Harry Met Sally," "Sleepless in Seattle," and "You've Got Mail." Entertainment Weekly notes that should Ryan indeed be future Sally's voice in "How I Met Your Dad," the voice appearance will be the actress' first major prime-time TV series regular role.

The alleged CBS series does not have a confirmed air date yet but Screen Rant earlier reported that the spin-off might be on at the end of the year. Entertainment Weekly says that the network and studio 20th Century Fox TV had no comment regarding Meg Ryan's role.
