The tech giant's OS X Beta Seed Program now allows users to try out pre-release versions of the OS X free of charge.

The program admits any user who is of legal age (18 years old and above) as long as the user has an Apple ID and has agreed and accepted the OS X Beta Seed and Confidentiality Agreement. Tech Crunch notes that before the OS X Beta Seed Program, announced Tuesday, a developer account is needed to gain access to pre-release versions of Apple's OS.

A fee of $99 per year was also required before but the recently announced OS X Beta Seed Program does not require any fee at all to participate. Interested individuals can sign up HERE.

The OS X Beta Seed Program gives interested individuals a chance to test out OS X 10.9.3 or Build 13D45a. The current version of Apple's Mac OS is 10.9.2 or Build 13C64, notes PC Mag.

Those who register for the program will have to download and install the beta seed of the OS X 10.9.3 update. According to Apple, installing the beta seed does not void hardware warranty but advises those who wish to register to back up their computers before the installation.

Once Mac users have successfully installed the pre-release software, they will be required to provide feedback to Apple, says the tech company. Users can do so thru automated dialog boxes and other forms of communication, says Apple.

The iPhone-maker maintains that though the OS X Beta Seed Program is open to anyone who meets the previously mentioned criteria, the OS X 10.9.3 or Build 13D45a is still confidential.

"For example, don't install the pre-release Apple software on any systems you don't directly control or that you share with others, don't blog, post screen shots, tweet or publicly post information about the pre-release Apple software, and don't discuss the pre-release Apple software with or demonstrate it to others who are not in the OS X Beta Seed Program," explains the tech company.
