This year's celebration of the Tribeca Film Festival in the city of New York had a Latino touch with the participation of various Latino celebrities with the projection of their documentaries.
Actresses America Ferrera and Eva Longoria were a part of the Latino image present at Tribeca. Ferrera collaborated on "X/Y", while "Manos Sucias" is a documentary on drugs in Colombia produced by Spike Lee.
The festival, which ends on April 27 shows traditional documentaries which comprise half the showings, while movies on musicians such as Björk, Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir and James Brown have surprised visitors this year with a musical touch.
Even if the Tribeca Film Festival, one of the country's most important film festivals, is not known for setting a specific trend, every year projections have a motif or subject in common, and this year, music is the main guest.
The role of music is projected with films and documentaries such as "Time is Illmatic", a look into the first years of American hip-hop artist Nas' career and how he made the revolutionary album "Illmatic" in 1994, according to Reuters.
The 2014 Tribeca Film Festival has different events in New York City, with some of its main venues being the Bow Tie Cinemas Chelsea, BMCC Tribeca Pac, and the World Financial Center, 50 West 57th Street; offering free projections in different places in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx, Staten Island and New Jersey.
