A selfie uploaded to Twitter of actor Sebastián Rulli and the Mayor of Matamoros, Mexico, Leticia Salazar, caused great controversy in Mexican media, receiving multiple and diverse comments.

The image was shared by the Mayor to celebrate Sebastián Rulli as the "2014 King of the Sea".

The image was also shared by the star of "Lo que la vida me robó" on his Twitter account, acknowledging the acceptance and warmth the Mayor has received in her community.

Some social network users considered the Mayor's action to be inappropriate, and criticized her for the condition of certain communities in the city.

"You should see the traffic chaos to leave, you have to wait over 2 hours," criticized Celeste Serrano; "A real mess...," said Pepe; "Instead of working for the safety of Matamoros PAN and circus!" tweeted Renegado, quoted by El Universal.

In contrast, other citizens showed their support for the Mayor and admiration for the actor through tweets.

"My beautiful Mayor and my beautiful king, I love you Rulli," tweeted Diana Derreza; "Both are very handsome," wrote Celeste Bernal; and "Congratulations, Mayor," tweeted Luis Montoya.
