The Democratic National Convention (DNC) is set to make a milestone for Latinos this year, as they'll have a record number of Latinos in attendance in the history of the DNC.

The news comes after the Republican National Convention (RNC) showcased a record number of Latino speakers for their convention. The RNC featured speakers from the first Latina US governor Susana Martinez and Mitt Romney's son Craig talking about his Mexican heritage.

Although there are not as many Latino speakers planned at this year's DNC, so far, as Latinos Post reported, the DNC will feature their first Latino keynote speaker with San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro. Actress Eva Longoria and broadcast journalist Cristina Saralegui are also scheduled to speak.

DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz spoke during the Hispanic Caucus and said, "The way I look at it is, we have a very deep bench, and we have so many stars through many layers. Julian Castro is one of the key rising stars in our party, and I think he's going to electrify the arena tomorrow night."

Castro is set to speak during the 10 p.m. EDT hour on Tuesday.

As for the number of Latino delegates at this year's DNC, the Huffington Post reported up to 800 are to be in attendance.

Latinos have favored the Democratic Party more than Republicans, with polls showing Obama at 60 percent over Romney's 30 percent.

Support for Obama has increased heavily following his executive order to grant work authorization and a stop to deportation for younger immigrants, mainly those that would have benefited from the DREAM Act, which Republicans were strongly opposed.

The DNC will also feature a monumental moment for Latinos as they broadcast the three-day events in Spanish. The Spanish live streaming of the DNC can be found here, as well as scheduled speakers and performers. The DNC starts tomorrow and ends on Thurs., Sept. 6.
