Shivanath and Shivram Sahu are the twins from India who have been joined together at the hip since birth, and now, 12 years later, they show they can carry out a normal life and the idea of separating is not in their plans.

The two boys, who were born in a town close to Raipur in central India have managed to survive and be healthy, and despite their disability have developed a unique form of self-sufficiency in which they bathe, dress, eat and go to school without help from their parents.

"We don't want to be separated", Shivram told Barcoft TV, quoted by the Daily Mail. "We're going to continue like this, even when we're old. We want to live this way," the boy added.

For their father, Raj Kumar, the life of his sons is a great example, assuring that besides being self-sufficient they are excellent students, despite the challenges his sons face every day.

"During the rain season it's difficult for them to walk and when one wants to sit, the other has to lay down. But they don't fight. They have similar opinions and if one wants to play, the other agrees," the 45-year-old man told Barcoft TV.

On his part, the pediatric doctor of the Fortis Memorial Research Institute in Gurgaon, Dr. Krishan Chugh, said that separating the twins would be impossible; the legs they share would have to be given to Shivram, condemning Shivanath to be paraplegic.
