"Rio 2" looks be triumphant at the box office beating out Johnny Depp's new film "Transcendence."

While there are four new releases it seems that Fox's animated film will enjoy a great weekend due to the holiday weekend. Children are currently on vacation and the film has been holding strong in its first week. The movie has already made 49 million in its first seven days and is likely to bring in another 26 over the Easter weekend. That could potentially put the film at 80 million.

Meanwhile Depp's new film "Transcendence" could see a weak opening. The film has been promoted as Wally Pfister's first film and has also gotten a lot of press for its Science Fiction premise. However reviews have been terrible with the film garnering a 13 percent aggregate score on Rotten Tomatoes. With Johnny Depp's latest track record with "The Lone Ranger," "The Rum Diary," "The Tourist," and "Dark Shadows," the movie is likely to open with $22 million. That will be a big loss for Warner Bros especially since the movie is budgeted at $100 million and is opening in 3,455 theaters.

Marvel will continue strong on its third weekend with "Captain America: The Winter Soldier." The movie has already made $170 million and is likely to continue its success in the Holiday weekend. The movie is likely to make $21 million and could top $200 million by the end of the weekend.

Meanwhile the Christian film "Heaven is for Real" will open after a strong Wednesday release. The movie opened above "Captain America" with $3.7 million. The film is opening on the heels of "Gods Not Dead" and "Son of God" successful run and as a result TriStar could easily have a hit with this faith based film. Expect solid $16 million opening as it is opening in 2,417 theaters.

Meanwhile "A Haunted House 2" looks to only bring in $12 million.  With the tough competition and really no strong marketing push this sequel is unlikely to match "A Haunted House's" $18 million opening. However since the film only cost $4 million and it is opening in 2,310 theaters, the movie will be successful.

Disney Nature will also open "Bears" in time for Earth Day in 1,720 theaters. The recent documentary's from this brand have generally opened around $10 million and as a result, this film could have a similar opening.

In arthouse theaters High Top Releasing will unveil the dancing film "Make Your Movie in 142 theaters while Millennium Entertainment will release John Turturro's recent film "Fading Gigolo" starring Woody Allen, Sofia Vergara, Live Schreiber, and Sharon Stone.

Radius TWC will also release "13 Sins" in 45 theaters and on VOD. The movie stars Ron Perlman and Mark Webber.

A number of holdover films will also expand including Fox Searchlight's "Dom Hemingway," which will be seen in 129 theaters. The Weinstein Company will also expand "The Railway Man" in 26 theaters and Sony Classics Pictures will expand Jim Jarmusch's "Only Lovers Left Alive" in 18 theaters.
