The fossil of the national Tyrannosaurus Tex, discovered in Montana in 1988, arrived at the Museum of Natural History of the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, where they will be kept starting on April 15.

In a press conference, the Natural Museum of History presented the renovation of its Hall of Fossils and Dinosaurs, which is expected to be inaugurated in 2019 with the permanent exposition of an almost-complete T-Rex fossil.

The delivery of the T-Rex was made through FedEx, who was in charge of transporting the 7-ton fossil from Montana to the US capital, which was completed on Tuesday morning, without any complications.

One of the five samples never shown before will be the central star of the museum's National Fossil Hall, which will receive $48 million dollars to be renovated and renamed David Koch, in honor of the executive vicepresident of Koch Industries Inc., who donated $35 million for the renovation, according to Science.

Kirk Johnson, the museum's director, said that the T-Rex is the king of dinosaurs, described as the "most American" by the Smithsonian paleontologist Hans Sues, who defined it as "enormous and dominant".

During the press conference, Smithsonian authorities showed those present parts of the T-Rex, like its femur, a tooth and its jaw; which will be exhibited starting on April 16.

"We couldn't be more excited to welcome the Nation's T-Rex to Washington so it can be enjoyed by our 8 million visitors every year and serves as the entry point to the vast world of scientific discovery," said Kirk Johnson.
