The summer movie slate this year is expected to get more crowded. Perhaps banking on the success of "Magic Mike," Warner Bros decided to go ahead with the release of the sexy stripper drama sequel on July 3, 2015, just two days from the release of "Terminator: Genesis," New York Daily News said.

Th film will also join Marvel's "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" in the same film season, as the superhero movie opens on May 15, while "Jurassic World" and the the "Despicable Me" spinoff, "The Minions," will drop in theaters on June 12 and July 10 respectively.

NY Daily News said that Warner Bros seemed to be confident that actor Channing Tatum and original cast members Matthew McConaughey, Alex Pettyfer, Matt Bomer and Joe Manganiello could bring on the charm again in the film's sequel. Inspired by the actor's past as a male stripper, the original film directed by Steven Soderbergh pulled $113.7 million at the box office. Gregory Jacobs is reportedly directing "Magic Mike XXL" as Soderbergh has retired from directing.

In an interview following him receiving the Trailblazer Award at Sunday night's MTV Movie Awards, Tatum, who is co-writing the script for the "Magic Mike" sequel, revealed to MTV News that the film will be a road-trip movie. He said backstage, "We don't want to make it some serious slice-of-life movie. We want to have real, like reality in it, but we don't want to make like some dark drama. There was some darkness in the last movie and I think it surprised people and shocked people. This one, we want to have a lot of conflict and a lot of struggle, but we also want there to be a sh-- ton of fun. A sh-- ton of ridiculous stuff that you would never see in a movie, on the face of the earth, ever again."

Referring to his co-star McConaughey, who recently won an Academy Award for his performance in "The Dallas Buyers Club," said that the bronze-skinned hunk will be playing a little more of himself in the sequel.

"It's the most McConaughey that we've seen in a movie, not just physically... It's just him. He's not the stripper from Tampa, but it's just his personality. He such a believer. He's such an extraordinary. He believes in every single thing he does wholeheartedly. That's Dallas. If he's selling ice to an Eskimo, he just believes that the Eskimo needs this ice," Tatum added.
