A possible cause of pneumonia was diagnosed for Mexican singer Juan Gabriel after offering a concert at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, and was urgently interned at the Southern Hills Hospital and was forced to cancel all further performances.

The 64-year-old singer was hospitalized on Monday, April 14 by a close friend. "The Divo of Juárez is very sad because he had to cancel his upcoming performances in Los Angeles on April 16 and 17; San José on the 19th and two more in Central and South America," according to Univisión. "He's very sad because he was very excited about his tour, giving it his all... Getting sick, the only thing he was worried about was letting his audience down. He's only thinking about his concerts and recovering as quickly as possible," the source added.

"He was reported as being delicate and will be in the hospital for 8 days. This means that he will have to cancel some of his performances, which will be scheduled for later, but his health is more important now," he said. "He had been feeling ill since New York and in Las Vegas he got worst because he couldn't rest; he didn't want to let people down and now he had to be sent to the hospital," added the spokesman.

It's expected that Juan Gabriel will postpone his performances in Los Angeles to May 13 and 14, and his performances in Mexico on April 22 and 23 are pending.

The singer will leave the hospital on April 22, but will have to rest for 20 days more.
