Film director James Cameron revealed that the sequel films for "Avatar" are finally underway. Cameron spilled the beans in a Reddit AMA.

"The second, third and fourth films all go into production simultaneously. They're essentially all in preproduction now, because we are designing creatures, settings, and characters that span all three films. And we should be finished with all three scripts within the next, I would say, six weeks," he said in response to a question concerning the "Avatar" sequels.

The director was also asked if he felt pressured, given the success of "Avatar." Cameron responded, "There's always pressure, whether it's a new film or whether it's a sequel, to entertain and amaze an audience. I've felt that pressure my entire career, so there's nothing new there. The biggest pressure I feel right now is cutting out things I love to get the film down to a length that is affordable. There hasn't been a problem finding new and wonderful things to include in the movie."

The same user also asked Cameron if "Terminator" actor Arnold Schwarzenegger would be in any of the three upcoming "Avatar" films. The director addressed the question, saying, "As of right now, he and I have not discussed it, and I don't see a role as the scripts are coming together that would be appropriate for him, so I would say probably not."

The 2009 sci-fi adventure movie from Fox grossed almost $780 million in domestic sales, quotes Box Office Mojo. But the local ticket sales is humble at best, compared to the $2 billion it raked in during its foreign run, accounting for over 70 percent of the film's worldwide ticket sales.

"Avatar" stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Rodriguez, Giovanni Ribisi and Joel David Moore among others. Cameron has not yet let word out regarding the cast of the upcoming sequel films.
