It seems that the freshest members of the "X-Men" family will be the ones returning for the upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse" which include Academy Award winning actress Jennifer Lawrence.

The "American Hustle" star along with actors James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and real life boyfriend Nicholas Hoult are reported to reprise their characters in the latest mutant superheroes sequel, as stated by Entertainment Weekly. In fact, there is a high chance for the young actress to have her own character spinoff as the popular shapeshifter, based on the producers' final decision.

"X-Men" director, Bryan Singer, teased that the coming "X-Men: Apocalypse" will base its storyline from the '90s classic plot of the "Age of Apocalypse." It will also be influenced by several events taken from the "X-Men: Days of Future Past," the director adds.

"Apocalypse deals with ancient mutancy. What would humans have thought mutants were? What would mutants think humans were? You're dealing with gods and things like that. And what if one survived and what if that found its way into our world?" Director Singer shared with Yahoo Movies.

Even if "X-Men: Days of Future Past" is still on its way to the big screen this month, Singer is reportedly already conceptualizing with writer-producer Simon Kinberg for the next "X-Men" movie, reports IGN. The writer-producer somehow assured fans that the 2016 "X-Men: Apocalypse" movie will be bigger than this year's "X-Men: Days of Future Past" since according to Kinberg, "there'll be disaster movie imagery, like the title would imply."

Aside from Jennifer Lawrence playing Mystique, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, James McAvoy as Professor X and Michael Fassbender as Magneto, the director also said that bringing on board more mutants like Nightcrawler and Gambit is highly possible. "I'm excited because I want to start introducing familiar characters at different ages and also explore the '80s," the director remarked in the IGN report.

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" will hit the big screen by May 23. "X-Men: Apocalypse" is set to be released on May 27, 2016.
