Singer Miley Cyrus seems to have put her informality aside and posed in a serious manner for Elle, May issue, and granted an interview in which she boarded subjects like her broken heart after breaking up with Liam Hemsworth, sex and feminism.

In the interview with writer Tavi Gevinson, Cyrus opened her heart, and surprised everyone with revealing statements that show her sensible side and how painful it was to lose a great love and how hard it was to be under intense training during her Disney days as a girl and teenager.

"I'm really thankful for starting on Disney. I had the most intense training," she said. "There's times where I wish I could have just started as a new artist, but the world has kind of allowed me to do that."

Liam Hemsworth and Miley began their relationship after the recording of "The Last Song"; a relationship that even saw glimpses of a marriage in its future; however, the relationship ended in 2013, devastating the singer.

"When I went through a really intense breakup-you know, I was engaged-and when I was with him or when I was on Disney, the thing that gave me the most anxiety was not knowing what to do with myself when Disney wasn't there to carry me anymore or if I didn't have him. And now I'm free of both of those things, and I'm fine," she said. "Like, I lay in bed at night by myself and I'm totally okay, and that's so much stronger than the person three years ago, who would have thought they would have died if they didn't have a boyfriend."

On her feminist posture, Miley said she's in favor of gender equality, saying that her idea is not for women to do everything, but to be considered equal.

Through her Twitter account, Miley shared the cover for the magazine, thanking designer Marc Jacobs for his work.

Elle's issue with Cyrus on its cover will be sold starting on April 15 digitally and April 22 in stores.
