Henry Jackman, the music composer for the 2012 animated film "Wreck-It Ralph", revealed to Collider that a script for the sequel is currently in the works. He also said the first film's director, Rich Moore, is involved in the writing process for "Wreck-It Ralph 2."

When asked if he has heard any news about a sequel, he answered, "I did, to be honest with you. I can't tell you more, not because I'm being coy, but I believe that it is officially on the cards. I don't know any more other than a story is indeed being written. I'd be very surprised not to."

The composer continued, "Just the movie itself I thought was a fantastically imaginative and creative piece of work. Rich [Moore], the director, actually got involved in the writing. There was another writer and I can't remember his name (Editor's note: it's Phil Johnston).  Just as a concept, it would be almost a remiss of them not to write another one. It's a great idea and it's a great character."

The first film, which featured the voices of John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer and Jane Lynch, brought audiences to the world of arcade game characters. To the delight of gamers, the film included cameos from famous characters such as Doctor Eggman from "Sonic The Hedgehog," Bowser from "Super Mario Bros.," M. Bison and Zangief from "Street Fighter", and Pac-Man.

As for the the sequel, Moore previously stated that he would like to add characters and references from contemporary games such as "Angry Birds" and "Words With Friends," IGN reported.

The director said, "I don't exactly know how we could work it in, you know, things like 'Angry Birds' and the 'With Friends' games - only because I love playing them. It just seems like it would be great to work in a story about those types of games that are so prevalent and contemporary and part of our culture. I would love to somehow work that into a sequel."
