This couple brings new meaning to "thrice's the charm."

Time reported that Calvin and Zatera Spencer from Portsmouth, VA won the lottery thrice last month. And they did that using the same combination: 6-6-6-6.

Their first win came on March 12, when their Powerball ticket netted $1 million, USA Today said.

On March 26, they got lucky again and won $50,000 "with 10 winning tickets in the Virginia Lottery's Pick 4 game."

Then, the next day, Mr. Spencer went and "bought a Virginia Lottery Scratcher ticket, $100 Million Cash Extravaganza, and won the $1 million prize."

"The couple took home $681,000, before taxes, from that last win alone," Time said. Mr. Spencer opted for the lump sum arrangement, rather than the 30-year payment installments.

With this triple win, the Spencers has turned themselves into the envy of lottery jackpot hopefuls.

Despite these wins, the couple said that they're "not finished yet."

The combination the lucky pair used was actually a "popular" one. "The Virginia Lottery paid out a total of $6 million to winners for that drawing. Spencer had 10 tickets with 6-6-6-6. The top prize in Pick 4 is $5,000, which means he won a total of $50,000," USA Today pointed out. This explains why the Spencers declared they're not done just yet. Will this prompt other lottery hopefuls to bet on this winning combination?

Despite the popularity of the winning combo, it appears not everyone had the same clever idea of using it constantly. "I haven't seen anything like it in my 12 years here," said John Hagerty, a lottery spokesman, as quoted by The Huffington Post. "People in the office couldn't believe it was them when they showed up with the winning ticket."

Meanwhile, the Powerball site said that the odds of winning the $1 million prize "are more than one in five million," the Daily Mail observed.
