"Assassin's Creed" is a video game series developed by Ubisoft that follows a historical, action-adventure theme. First released in late 2007, the game has gained much acclaim from users, fans, and critics that it has gone on to become a game franchise which has spawned 6 main games, each of which has its own plot and following.

One of such "offshoots; is "Assassin's Creed: Pirates," which is designed for mobile gaming and was released on both iOS and Android gadgets in December 2013. This particular game is developed by the Ubisoft Paris team and follows the story of Captain Alonzo Batilla, who is distinguished by the fact that he's not an Assassin or a Templar. Not exactly an "assassin" game, is it?

But that's not the point - what's exciting about this game is that it's been recently given a second major update.

"The update provides players with hours of additional content with a new map area, a new campaign mission, three secondary missions and more goodies to collect," Ubisoft announced through its blog. "On top of all that, you will also be able to take on a whole new mission type. Each map will have its own Survival Missions, in which you can fish and hunt whales for food - all from the deck of two new ships."

Fans of the game will have their hands and imagination quivering with excitement at this update. And they most probably won't finish reading this piece just to get the adventure going right now.

Another addition to the update is the fact that the user "can take on famous historical ships in naval battles and prove your might on the open ocean."

However, this game is not free - but that's beside the point, right?

"Assassin's Creed: Pirates" is available in the iOS App Store and also in Google Play for $4.99.
