The Paris National Opera has announced its 2014-15 season and is presenting a variety of works from the repertoire.

The season will open Benoit Jaquot's production of Verdi's "La Traviata." Ermnela Jaho will perform the leading role of Violetta alongside Italian tenor Franceso Meli. Dimitri Hvorostovsky rounds out the cast with Dan Ettinger conducting the orchestra.

The season will feature three new productions. The first will be a completely new production of Puccini's "Tosca." French director Pierre Audi will take on the classic work with Martina Serafin in the title role. Later performances will include Oksana Dyka and Beatrice Uria-Monzon. The production will also feature three tenors as Cavaradossi, including Marcelo Alvarez, Marco Berti and Massimo Giordano. Rounding out the casts are Ludovic Tezier, George Gagnidze, and Sebastian Catana, all as Scarpia. The production will be conducted by Daniel Oren and Evelino Pido.

Mozart's "Die Entführung aus dem Serail" will get a new production that will directed by Zabou Breitman. The opera will star Albina Shagimuratova, Anna Prohaska, Richard Richter and Maurizio Muraro. Philippe Jordan will conduct the production.

The final new production will Chausson's rarely performed opera "Le Roi Arthus." The production will be directed by the controversial stage director Graham Vick. The company has aligned a star-studded cast for the opera that includes French tenor Roberto Alagna, mezzo soprano Sophie Koch and baritone Thomas Hampson. Jordan will also lead the new production from the pit.

One of the highlights of the season will undoubtedly be Massenet's "Le Cid," which will star Anna Caterina Antonacci, Alagna and Annick Massis. Legendary conductor Michel Plasson will lead the orchestra in Charles Roubaud's Marseille production, which will be new to Paris..

Angela Gheorghiu will bring her acclaimed portrayal of Cilea's "Adriana Lecouvreur" in David McVicar's production, which will also be new to the Paris Opera. The opera will also star Marcelo Alvarez, Raul Gimenez, Alessandro Corbelli and Luciana D'Intino. Svetla Vassileva will also sing the title role in three performances. Oren conducts.

Geneva's production of Rossini'ss "Il Barbiere di Siviglia" will also be imported to Paris. The Damiano Michieletto staging will star Rene Barbera and Karine Deshayes.

Strauss' masterpiece "Ariadne auf Naxos" will return to the repertoire with Karita Mattila in the title role and Sophie Koch as the composer. Klaus Florian Vogt will sing the role of Bacchus and Daniela Fally will portray the soubrette role of Zerbinetta.

Piotr Beczala brings his acclaimed Faust in Gonoud's masterpiece with Ildar Abdrazakov and Krassimira Stoyanova. Michale Fabiano will also perform the title role for a few nights as Bezcala's alternate.

Other highlights will include Mozart's "Don Giovanni" starring Erwin Schrott and Stefan Pop in film director Michale Haneke's production.

Jonathon Miller's classic production of Puccini's "La Boheme" will return with Ana Maria Maritnez and Nicole Cabell rotating the role of Mimi and Dimitri Pittas singing Rodolfo.

Other operas that will be presented include Debussy's "Pellas et Melisande," Gluck's "Alceste," Humperdinck's "Hansel and Gretel," Dvorak's "Rusalka" and Mozart's "Die Zauberflauote."

The season will run from Sept. 8, 2014 to July 15, 2015.
