Sure, the awards are its main thing, but what fans have been waiting for most of the night is the chance to hear Idina Menzel sing "Let It Go" live at the Oscars, in L.A.'s Dolby Theatre. The smash hit from the Disney's "Frozen" has dominated the Billboard 200, spending five weeks on the number one spot since its release, winning the hearts of many. With an iconic song to be sung, everyone expected Queen Elsa to deliver a good performance.

The 42-year-old Tony-winning Menzel revealed that even her four-year-old son Walker Diggs (with ex-hubby, Taye Diggs), is among her biggest fans. Us Magazine recalled that she told Good Morning America, "My son sings let it go back to me in the bathtub!"

She also said, "It's about owning your own power, owning who you are, what makes you compelling, fierce hong girls and not caring what people think. This is a dream come true. I am just having fun with it."

Unfortunately for the actress, critics were unimpressed by her performance. A thread at io9.com suggested that her timing was off, and that she was not able to hit the final high note. Others decided to blame the orchestra for rushing her through her performance, but others seem to think that it was the other way around.

However, her performance stunned the audience, earning her a standing ovation from fellow celebrities.

Neil Patrick Harris even tweeted his support, writing, "Idina crushed! Love it!"

But the biggest dismay during the whole spiel was John Travolta's inability to get names right. Despite knowing that he will be presenting at the awards show, he did not bother knowing Idina's name, and introduced her as something along the lines of, "Adela Dazeem."

The bad introduction or the questionable performance did not seem to matter, though, as the song went on to win the Best Original Song, with "Frozen" named as Best Animated Film as well.

What do you think of Menzel's performance, did she nail it, or fail it?
