Singer Shakira traveled to her native Colombia accompanied by her son Milan Piqué for the first time, to participate in the inauguration of a school donated by her Barefoot Foundation (Fundación Pies Descalzos) in the city of Cartagena.

Through her social networks, Shakira shared the emotive moment, always thanking the collaborators and partners of her Foundation for their efforts, describing the event as "a dream come true".

In the company of various government officials, including First Lady María Clemencia de Santos and the Minister of Education, María Fernanda Campo, Shakira said she was very happy to see the "faces of the students" who will be learning at the new school, which has an investment of $16 billion Colombian pesos and is expected to benefit 1,700 children from the Lomas de Peyé area.

First Lady María Clemencia described the Foundation's effort as "the friendly hand" that Colombia needs, quoted a Shakira song "after the storm, when you less expect it, the sun comes out," reported El País.
