Citing several unnamed sources, The Hollywood Reporter said Paramount and Skydance has tapped "Die Hard 5" actor Jai Courtney as the father of the main protagonist, Kyle Reese, for their yet another "Terminator" reboot. When contacted by THR, Paramount said they had no comment regarding the casting news.

Emilia Clarke of the "Game of Thrones" fame and Jason Clarke are also rumored to have joined in the new movie currently titled "Terminator: Genesis." Clarke, who played dragon handler Daenerys Targaryen in the George Martin novel-inspired television series, will reportedly play Sarah Connor, while the "Zero Dark Thirty" actor will be playing another gritty character in the reboot as Connor and Reese' offspring, John Connor.

THR said that the role of Reese could also have been offered to "The Host" actor Boyd Holbrook, who get tested twice to be considered for the role. However, film executives might have been impressed with Courtney's film presence in movies such as the Bruce Willis headliner "A Good Day to Die Hard," upcoming new film"Divergent" and television drama series "Spartacus."

Drew McWeeny of Hitfix said Courtney's casting was a good choice for the film franchise, as the actor can often be confused by another action star, Sam Worthington. He also said that the new Terminator reboot could spur a trilogy should it do well in the movies, as Hollywood has always done to cash in popular brands. Nonetheless, McWeeny said he remained indifferent to the new Terminator film, citing the fact that he himself is at lost at how producers of the film will be able to extend the storyline of the characters we initially came to love when Arnold Schwarzenegger starred in the first Terminator film.

McWeeny said "Terminator: Genesis" will be reportedly written by Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier, with "Thor: The Dark World" director Alan Taylor tapped to direct the film.
