New distributor A24 is coming into its second year as a company after a great first year.

The distributor released five movies in its first year, with "Spring Breakers" and "The Spectacular Now" garnering critical acclaim as well as a number accolades.

The company is about to release its sixth movie, "Enemy," on March 14. The movie stars Jake Gyllenhaal and is directed by the "Prisoners" director Denis Villaneuve. "Enemy" premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and scored rave reviews making it one of the most anticipated films of the year. The film tells the story of a man who seeks out his exact doppelganger after spotting him in a movie.

On April 4, A24 will bring one of the most divisive films of the festival circuit to theaters: Jonathan Glazer's "Under the Skin," starring Scarlett Johansson. The movie tells the story of an alien seductress who preys upon hitchhikers in Scotland. The movie premiered at the Venice Film Festival where it was booed by audiences, yet many critics gave the film great reviews. Having already released an experimental film ("Spring Breakers") to great financial success, it will be interesting to see if A24 makes the Johansson feature a box office draw.

April 25 will mark the release of "Locke," starring Tom Hardy, which tells the story a single phone call that causes the life of a successful construction manager to unravel during his drive home. The movie is the next single-actor film on the heels of "All is Lost, "Gravity" and "Buried." All three of these movies garnered great reviews and "Locke" has already received a number of awards in London including the British Independent award for Best Screenplay. While "Gravity" was a box office hit, it is unlikely "Locke" replicates the success but will definitely assert Hardy's star power.

"The Rover," starring Robert Pattinson and Guy Pearce, will also be released by A24. Directed by David Michod ("Animal Kingdom"), the film tells the story of a loner who tracks the gang who stole his car from a desolate town in the Australian outback with the forced assistance of a wounded man left behind in the wake of the theft. The film has yet to get a release date but A24 is sure to announce it soon.

A24 was very busy at the Sundance Film Festival this year, buying up three films. The first film acquired was "Obvious Child," which tells the story of comedian Donna Stern who gets dumped, fired and pregnant just in time for the worst/best Valentine's Day of her life. Later, "Life After Beth," starrng Dane Dehaan and Aubrey Plaza, will be released by the company. The movie tells the story of Zach who is devastated after his girlfriend, Beth, unexpectedly dies.

The company also took rights to "Laggies" starring Chloe Grace Moretz and Keira Knightley. The movie scored great reviews and tells the story of a woman stuck in permanent adolescence who lies to her fiancé about going on a retreat and spends the time hanging out with friends instead.

The last film A24 has on the 2014 slate is "A Most Violent Year" from J.C Chandor. The film stars Jessica Chastain and Oscar Isaac and is likely to be a big awards contender at the end of the year. The movie recently completed production and has already released stills.

With so many films in A24's slate it is likely the company will raise its profile this year and could become a A-List distributor in Hollywood.
