The new season of HBO's hit television series "Game of Thrones" will be the most thrilling season yet, claimed co-creator and showrunner David Benioff to The Daily Mail. Fans of the bloody fantasy drama series will be seeing their favorite characters and the future of the show when the series returns on April 6. Watch the show's sneak preview below.

Benioff promised a lot of surprises for the show's fans in the upcoming season. He said, "There is tremendous clamour for revenge especially in the wake of the Red Wedding. Some of the most shocking and mind-blowing scenes of the entire series come at the end of this coming season. Some bloody confrontations."

First off, viewers who had been rooting for the Master of Coin, Tyrion Lannister (Golden Globe and Emmy winner Peter Dinklage), will be seeing his life in constant jeopardy, the Daily Mail reported. Thanks to his equally cunning sister Cersei (Lena Headey), Benioff said Tyrion will not be able to count on his usual wit to get him out of tricky situations.

On the other hand, the season will be showcasing another wedding, this time of King Joffrey and Margaery Tyrell. Benioff said that this event, called the Purple Wedding, will introduce a new character that could set things in motion to exact revenge on the Lannister family. Prince Oberyn Martell, the new character on the show, is reportedly instrumental to the mayhem at the wedding.

Meanwhile, fans of the self-made queen Daenerys Targaryen will see her having trouble keeping control of her kingdom and her terrifying dragons this season. The new season will also be seeing a lot of brotherly love between Jon Snow and Samwell Tarly. Kit Harrington, who plays Snow, said his character will be relying more on Tarly after breaking his vows with the Night's Watch and with lady love Ygritte.

"Game of Thrones" has been a surprising commercial success for both fans of the George R.R. Martin's book series and television viewers. The final episode of Season 3 garnered 5.4 million viewers, which was a significant 28 percent increase as compared to the final episode of Season 2, according to Forbes. The show is second to "True Blood," as the most popular show produced by HBO.
