After the announcement that MetLife Stadium would host Superbowl XLVIII, the NFL had one special reason to be concerned - playing in an open-air stadium in New Jersey in one of the coldest winters in recent history is no easy feat.

Considering how much snow still lingers around (snow left behind by the various storms that battered the region for the past few weeks), MetLife Stadium may already have an enemy in the weather. However, the league already made contingency plans in case problems arise in this sunday; perhaps it means that if snow does hit again, the game may be moved to Monday or Tuesday instead?

The Weather Channel has predicted that temperatures will rise to the 30s or 40s by next week, and no heavy storm is in the horizon.

Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning, however, was not concerned about the conditions. He remains confident that his team is ready to battle the snowstorm, should it be necessary. He told Newsday, "We've practiced in this and had to play in these types of conditions at different points in the year. So any time you can have a similar situation you can simulate during practice which it might be during a game, it always is a good thing."

In fact, most of the Broncos were not concerned about the weather, with Mike Adams also telling Newsday, "The cold? We're talking about the Super Bowl. I'm not worried about the cold, I promise you that. If anything, I'm worrying about them canceling the game. That's the only thing I'm worried about", Adams explained. "Other than that, I'm worrying about playing, that's it. Not the weather.''

On the other hand, NFL Executive Vice President Eric Grubman said in the Weather.com that the games could be scheduled anytime from Friday to Monday, depending on the condition of whether or not a major winter storm would break. Grubman also added that a 36-hour lead time will be necessary in moving the game to another day.
