The first images to the upcoming "The Giver" adaptation have been revealed.

Entertainment Weekly released images that show Jeff Bridges and Brenton Thwaites in film.

Bridges, who plays The Giver, said that he was thrilled to play the iconic role. The Academy Award winning actor is also serving as a producer on the film, which recently wrapped in Cape Town. During an interview with EW, the actor cautioned audiences that the movie will not be an exact copy of the Newbury Award winning book. He said, "The movie will not be an exact duplication of the book. It's taking a lot of licenses."

He added that the The Chief Elder, which will be played by Meryl Streep, takes on a more significant role in the movie than in the book.

He also added that there was already controversy over the fact that Jonas, played by Thwaites, was a 16-year-old instead of a 12-year-old as portrayed in the book. Bridges said, "I originally kind of balked at the idea of making the lead character older."

However, Noyce was in favor of making the character older and eventually convinced Bridges. He said, "In the book, the younger pubescent Jonas has a flirtation with a young girl of his age. That's almost a love affair in the film. We were so lucky to have Thwaites play this role. He does a beautiful job," he says.

Noyce also said that the book is a journey and an investigation. "The past is considered to be potentially polluting. This is a world where complications are eliminated. Jonas himself goes on a journey as he finds out what's missing. He starts to investigate what's causing it. And that's the beauty. That's what makes the book so popular, it's an investigation in ways of living," he said.

"The Giver" will be released by Harvey Weinstein on Aug. 15.
