Known anti-immigrant republican Tim Donnelly, who recently announced his intention to become a candidate for governor of California for the 2014 elections, published a video on Tuesday, Jan. 14 for his campaign in which he receives the support of María Conchita Alonso.

The Cuban singer, one of the California's most recognizable Latino figures participated in the bilingual video for the Tea Party member, something that has shocked and angered the Latino community in California.

According to information shared by Los Angeles Times, in his new campaign video Donnelly, the founder of a anti-immigrant vigilante cell known as "Minutemen", calls for the return of California's "prosperity".

"I love this state. I came here with $300 in my pocket, I married the sexiest woman in California, I raised five children and started a business, this is the California dream," Donnelly says in the video which can be seen on his official website.

In the company of a small dog called Tequila, María Conchita Alonso translates what the pre-candidate is saying to Spanish, with a touch of humor. In the video, which lasts 3 minutes, Donnelly talks about education, taxes, and the right of Californians to keep firearms in their homes.

The only moment when the known Cuban singer disagrees with Donnelly's proposals is when he mentions the "right to hunt animals". Alonso says that "I don't like hunting, I don't want animals to suffer," and says that "we'll have to talk about that later."

The controversial video, where the pre-candidate says that all Californians should be able to "carry a gun for protection", and criticized the current governor of California, Jerry Brown, has not been welcomed by society due to its content.

Dan Newman, political spokesman for governor Brown said that "What his videos lack in logic and sense, he makes up with pure entertainment value," quoted Los Angeles Times.

So far, Donnelly is the only candidate that has officially presented his request to become a candidate to governor.
