Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana have been confirmed to return as Jake Sully and Neytiri in James Cameron's "Avatar" sequels.

In an article on MTV News, Cameron was quoted saying in a press release, "Sam brought to the role a combination of sensitivity, vulnerability, and strength. Zoe captured every aspect of the character I envisioned, bringing to Neytiri a mix of delicacy, fierceness, and incredible physicality. I am beyond pleased they'll be returning with us to Pandora."

It seems that it will be a busy year for Saldana since she was also casted to join the Marvel superheroes in the upcoming film 'Guardians of the Galaxy'.

Also joining Worthington and Saldana is Stephen Lang, who would be reprising his role as Col. Miles Quaritch. For those who watched the film, you might remember Lang's character getting killed by Neytiri.

As to how he managed to come back from the dead, maybe Sigourney Weaver could offer an explanation. That's right, Weaver has entered negotiations with Cameron regarding her role as Dr. Grace Augustine in the follow-up films to 'Avatar'. Like Col. Quaritch, Dr. Augustine also died in the first film.

But in an interview with ComingSoon.net, Weaver said, "Jim [Cameron] says no one ever dies in science fiction. He's told me the stories for the next two movies and I have to say that they're absolutely wonderful and there's a real treat in store. Now we just have to make them."

Keeping up with Avatar's environmental theme, Cameron revealed that he is planning to explore the underwater world of Pandora. In a different report on ComingSoon.net, he said, "We're doing Avatar films now, so we're making up an ocean ecosystem for Pandora. That's gonna have less to do with the deep exploration that I've done than it has to do with my concerns about conservation of Earth's oceans".

The first untitled 'Avatar' film in the trilogy of sequels will be released in December 2016. The second and third installments will hit the big screen on the December months of 2017 and 2018.
