Sam Neill has stated that he may not return for the upcoming "Jurassic Park" film.
During an interview with the Examiner, the veteran actor said that he believed there was a completely new cast for the fourth installment, "Jurassic World."
"Look, you never say no. I think there's a whole new cast and a whole new look at things, and I think that's great. As I said, I'd never say no, but I wish them... well, I'm sure it's going to be great, but they don't need me," Neill told Examiner.
"Jurassic World" is rumored to take place 22 years after the original installments. Director Colin Trevorrow revealed the film's time period in a tweet and wrote, "Reboot is a strong word. This is a new sci-fi terror adventure set 22 years after the horrific events of 'Jurassic Park,'" wrote Trevorrow."
The new film will be directed by Trevorrow from a script he co-written with "Safety Not Guaranteed" scribe Derek Connolly. The studio has yet to announce plot details but given the 22-year gap between films, the new movie will most likely include new characters not seen in the previous films.
Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley will produce with executive producer Steven Spielberg helping the director with notes.
Neill is best known for playing the character of Dr. Alan Grant in the "Jurassic Park" series. He has also starred in "The Piano," "The Hunt for Red October," and "The Hunter." He has also been seen in "The Vow," "Daybreakers," "Escape Plan," "Dirty Deeds," and "In Her Skin." He is slated to appear in "A Long Way Down," "F2014," and "Mystery Rise." He will also star in a TV Mini Series "Old School."
Universal is slated to release the upcoming film on June 12, 2015
