Grand Theft Auto 5 is definitely one of the most anticipated games floating around gamers' minds at the moment. The previous installments helped rocket videogames into the mainstream media, and all have garnered record sales. Grand Theft Auto 5 promises to take the series to a whole new level, and it might be thanks to its focus on multiplayer.

Rockstar Games formally let loose that Grand Theft Auto 5 was being developed back in late October, 2011. There is no confirmed release date, so expect Rockstar to take its time in developing a solid game.
The Grand Theft Auto series has basically been a single player experience. Sure a bunch of friends can take turns seeing how long they can survive the highest number of stars, but an actual, robust multiplayer offering has been lacking. Grand Theft Auto 5, however, will change that.
"Multiplayer is an ever-more important part of all our games moving forward. And by creating crews through Social Club, the crews that you create in Max Payne 3 will be ready and available for you to play in Grand Theft Auto V from day one," said Rockstar co-founder and co-writer Dan Houser to IGN.
"It's all part of our larger approach to make multiplayer deeper and richer than what's currently available, much more easily accessible to the newcomer and rewarding for the hardcore."
This should be exciting news for those who have wanted to see just exactly who can be the baddest criminal in the Grand Theft Auto world. Grand Theft Auto 5 will take place in the fictional city of Los Santos, based on Los Angeles, and its surrounding countryside. Los Santos first appeared in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and was one of three fictional cities. The other two were based on San Francisco and Las Vegas, although there is no confirmation on whether these two locales will be available in the game.
Don't worry though, Grand Theft Auto 5 will more likely than not be big enough to give you a variety of things to do. Screenshots indicate planes will be making a return to the game, although there is no word yet on how the combat system will play out. And as usual, Rockstar will feature a variety of new cars and you can bet there will be plenty of easter eggs to discover.
As for the character, he won't be a returning figure, but another nameless protoganist you lead up the ladder of crime.
Stay tuned for more updates on Grand Theft Auto 5.
