A man witnessed the murder of his son by the hands of LAPD officers on a live transmission of the events on local television.

In its report, Los Angeles Times pointed out that 80-year-old Bill Beaird was not able to contain his tears when he told journalists about the moment on December 13th when he saw his 51-year-old son Brian, a war veteran, die at the hands of LAPD officers. He would later on file a $20 million lawsuit agains LAPD the same day.

The source details that Bill Beaird got a call from his son on Friday 13 to tell him he was being chased by LAPD units, saying he had committed no crime. Minutes later the man saw the report on KTLA-TV where his son's chase was being narrated live.

The video broadcasted by the news channel showed the moment in which the vehicle crashed against another car and ended up on the sidewalk. The driver, Brian Beaird, exited the car with his hands up and then fell to the floor clutching his stomach.

Preliminary information indicated that three LAPD officers shot the war veteran at least 20 times. The local chief of police, Charlie Beck, said that the officers would be investigated for abuses in the use of force.
