Nintendo noted three of the improvements for the games.

The first improvement is a minor change to the Internet connection method. The second fixes the issue where some gamers could not view the promotion video tagline in a Lumiose City event. Finally, the update fixes a glitch that did not show moves certain Pokémon learned while evolving with Wonder Trade.

According to Nintendo, the update is necessary to download to continue using the Internet features within "Pokémon X" and "Pokémon Y."

The Pokémon franchise has also resumed Rating Battles, which has been on hiatus since Nov. 28.

The Pokémon Global Link webpage noted, "To all of our dedicated players who enjoy Rating Battles, we apologize for keeping you waiting!"

The update comes as The Pokémon Company International disclosed new details regarding the Pokémon Bank and Pokémon Transporter features. Starting Dec. 27, Pokémon fans can obtain the Pokémon Bank and Pokémon Transporter to store up to 3,000 Pokémon and transfer them from the fifth-generation games to the latest Kalos-based games. An annual fee of $4.99 will be part of the deal. Gamers, however, can download the Pokémon Bank and Pokémon Transporter with a 30-day free trial before Jan. 31, 2014.
