The Nokia Lumia 521 has received low prices in time for the holiday shopping season.

The pre-paid Lumia 521 for T-Mobile smartphone can be purchased for $79.95 from retailer Walmart. The retailer is also offering free shipping for the Windows Phone 8 smartphone and notes the device "will arrive" before Christmas.

On Amazon, the price for the Lumia 521 is also the same as Walmart, at $79.95. The Lumia 521's price of $79.95 is down from $94.97 on Dec. 7. The $79.95 price is a savings of $70.04, or 47 percent discount from the original $149.99 price tag. Amazon is also offering free shipping for the Nokia smartphone.

The prices spotted on Amazon and Walmart are cheaper than on the online Microsoft Store, which has the Lumia 521 smartphone for $99.

The Lumia 521 can also be purchased from the official T-Mobile website with $0 up front. On T-Mobile's website, the full retail price of the Lumia 521 is $126. With the $0 up front offer, the T-Mobile customer will have to pay $5.25 for the next 24 months. If the consumer cancels the wireless service, the remaining balance on the Windows Phone 8 device will be due.

The Lumia 521's features include a 4-inch touchscreen and 5-megapixel camera with 720p HD video recording. When it comes to memory, the smartphone has 8GB of internal storage with 512MB of RAM. A microSD card slot is available for an additional 64GB of storage. The battery capacity for the Windows Phone 8 smartphone is 1,430mAh.
