Xavi Hernandez insists that Barcelona is not giving up on its coach Gerardo Martino.

The team is coming off two straight defeats and questions are starting to arise about the team's playing style under its new coach. Martino has tried to instill a more direct approach to Barcelona's passing game. While it worked wonders early on, the players looked lethargic and lost against Ajax Amsterdam and Athletic Bilbao.

"Tata, like Guardiola, is a natural leader," Xavi said, according to ESPN. "He is rigid, demanding, he talks very directly and his ideas are very clear. We are very relaxed inside the dressing room. We believe in what we are doing.

"We know that these are two consecutive defeats, and that the level of demands is very high," he added. "The fans pressure us a lot to return to playing the same as we did before, and that is difficult. But from inside we are relaxed, we know we are doing things well."

Xavi also noted that there were no concerns about the playing style. He shut down any suggestions that the team was looking to play a counter attacking style that has been the staple of rival Real Madrid.

"Barca are not playing on the counter-attack, but for a passer like me it is always nice to find spaces [to play more directly]. The style does not change, it is all compatible," said Xavi.

Xavi has been among the players that have played poorly in recent games. The midfield maestro has looked slow and his passing execution has lacked the usual flair and creativity that has made him a Barcelona legend.
