Universal has announced the "Bourne 5" film will be released at the end of the summer.

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that the studio will open the Justin Lin directed film on Aug. 14, 2015. The release date isn't surprising; the last two films in the series, "The Bourne Ultimatum" and "The Bourne Legacy," opened during the same time period. The new installment will star Jeremy Renner reprising his role as Aaron Cross, which he played in the 2012 box office success "The Bourne Legacy."

Lin is directing his first film for Universal since "Fast and Furious." The director has previously helmed the "Fast & Furious" movies, but opted out of "Fast & Furious 7," which is being delayed after Paul Walker's untimely death.

The fifth Bourne installment will be produced by Frank Marshall alongside Jeffrey Weiner and Ben Smith for Captivate. Lin will also produce for his Perfect Storm Entertainment.

Like the previous four installments, the film will be inspired by author Robert Ludlum's book series.

Renner is best known for his work on "The Hurt Locker" and "The Town" for which he was nominated for Academy Awards. He has also been seen in "The Avengers," "Swat," "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol" and 28 Weeks Later." The actor will next be seen in "American Hustle" and "The Immigrant."

Universal will next release "Lone Survivor," "47 Ronin," "Stretch," "Dracula" and "Neighbors."
