The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will be released in November, and millions have flocked to video game retailers to pre-order the consoles ever since Sony and Microsoft officially offered pre-orders starting in June. Now, with the launch of the two consoles drawing near, Ubisoft's CEO has potentially revealed that the PlayStation 4 is winning the pre-order battle and thus could win the holiday season.

As IGN reports, during an earnings call about the upcoming consoles Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot inferred that the PS4 was dominating the Xbox One in pre-orders:

"Even if the PS4 is in front in terms of pre-orders, we see lots of improvement in the pre-orders that are coming on [Xbox One]...So no, we are not worried at all. We think it will be a big seller as well."

It will be interesting to see if the Ubisoft CEO's statements are accurate. Microsoft and Sony have not yet revealed pre-order sales figures for the consoles.

The PlayStation 4 is set to be released on Nov. 15, with the Xbox One following one week later on Nov. 22. Both consoles will have their fair share of fans, and look to gain an early edge or the other during this critical launch window so close to the start of the holiday shopping season. Both Microsoft and Sony have claimed to hold some reserve stock of the consoles after launch so that consumers can have the next-gen machines available as a holiday gift.

No matter what sort of numbers the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One have this holiday season, Ubisoft figures to have a huge amount of success during this time. One of the biggest games of the next-gen launch, Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, was made by Ubisoft, and the game figures to build upon both the existing past generation of consoles and the new machines to bring in a huge amount of revenue. One potential blemish though for Ubisoft: the company's other big launch title for the consoles, Watch Dogs, has been delayed until 2014.
