Last night's episode of "Bones" took the show's gross-out level to new heights.

In "The Dude in the Dam," Dr. Jack Hodgins (TJ Thyne) plays host to a botfly as it reaches maturity. A botfly is a real creature that lives in southern regions and lays eggs under the skin of a host. Angela (Michaela Conlin) is utterly disgusted by this, but sticks by Hodgins, even while he "gives birth" to an insect. In the end, Hodgins gives birth to a healthy botfly, and Angela helps with the painful delivery.

As for the murder of the week, Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan (Emily Deschanel) identify remains that were found in a beaver dam behind a highway rest stop. The remains are found to be Sean Nolan, an occasional model and regular sperm donor. Sean worked at a high-end clinic, but had lied about his credentials. When the company found out he had lied, he was fired and had to turn to private business to pay the bills. He had a website and used fertility drugs, which led to threats and an occasional beating. However, that is not how he was murdered.

It turns out Nolan had a brief affair with the former sperm-bank manager, which resulted in her getting pregnant. Nolan's girlfriend tells the FBI that he looked at his children as trophies, and wanted nothing to do with them.

He was murdered by the sperm-bank manager when he laughed at her about her pregnancy. She took a hoe from a rest stop and beat him with it in the groin before severing his artery.

Also in the episode, Brennan has to deal with a spiteful attempt to become more famous by another author, Tess Brown (Nora Dunn). Brown has been criticizing Brennan's writing, although Brennan did the same to Brown's earlier work. Brown decides to have a public feud with Brennan to boost sales of both of their books. However, Brennan doesn't like the shady tactics.

Brown gets what she deserves when a nearby waitress records her calling her fans idiots on her cell phone.

On the next episode, "The Fury in the Jury," "Brennan serves as a juror on a case involving a professional soccer player who's charged with murdering his wife, but she doesn't think he's guilty until his best friend also winds up dead, and then it becomes a team effort to prove he's the killer."

The next episode will air on the series' new night, Friday. Executive Producer Stephen Nathan told TVLine that he isn't worried about the show's new air time.

"Thankfully, this has happened at a time when the days of the week really don't mean all that much on television anymore," Nathan said. "So many people timeshift the show... We still have a large audience that watches us when we are on, but I'm not that concerned with Friday. I think all these loyal fans are going to come over to Friday."

Nathan gave a hint about what will happen on Friday's episode. "Brennan, being supremely rational and logical, follows the judges' instructions to the letter of the law - and what she feels is utterly unimportant," Nathan described. "She is only dealing with the evidence. And that gets us into a lot of trouble."

Nathan also said that Hodgins will discover some secrets about his family and Freddie Prinze Jr. will be back in an episode "that teams Booth and Danny in a common cause, but also causes Booth to question Danny."

Wendell will be the focus of an upcoming emotional episode, and Fisher will also return. Nathan said that Fisher may be "hooking up with someone we know."

It was also revealed that an early 2014 episode will mark the return of Pelant. Even though the Big Bad was killed off last month, Nathan said that "he'll be back in the flesh," but will be "somewhat ethereal." He may return to pass the torch to the "Ghost Killer," a villain he warned Booth and Brennan about before his death.

"Brennan is the type of person who is not going to forget the words of warning that were given to her by Pelant. ... We will see that surface in a way that concerns Booth and the other people at the lab and is something they're all going to have to contend with, seeing how immersed and overwhelmed Brennan is by the idea of this new serial killer," Nathan shared.

TVLine also reported that David Boreanaz will go behind the camera to film the 11th episode of this season. Country music star Charlie Worsham will guest star in the episode as Colin, an aspiring country singer who is the main focus of an investigation.

Watch the promo for the next episode, "The Fury in the Jury," which airs Friday, Nov. 15 at 8 p.m on Fox.
