Wednesday will mark country music's biggest night as the industry's top singers compete for at the 47th annual Country Music Association Awards.

Broadcast live from Nashville's Bridgestone Arena, the competition is mighty steep between the nominees up for this year's Entertainer of the Year award, notes Billboard

The award may go to Jason Aldean, who has endured a tough year due to a divorce in the works and a recent tour bus accident that killed a man.  Nonetheless, the Georgia native's career continues to soar with his latest record, "Night Train."

Luke Bryan, another nominee up for the award, took home the ACM Entertainer of the Year award this year, which makes him a top CMA contender.

Also in the running is Blake Shelton, who has attracted crossover appeal since becoming a judge on NBC's "The Voice." He was named Entertainer of the Year in 2012 as well.

George Strait, the king of country music, still holds up the mantle for the traditional wing of the industry. At 61, he's been honored twice already as entertainer of the year, in 1997 and 1998, and is the CMA's most-nominated artist ever.

Last, but certainly not least, is Taylor Swift, who is up for the Entertainer of the Year award along with five other CMA nominations. She will also be honored with the CMA's Pinnacle Award, which is given to an artist who "has achieved both national and international prominence through concert performances and record sales levels unique in country music," states People magazine.

The show will be hosted for the sixth time by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood and broadcast live on Wednesday, Nov. 6 from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
