Kevin Feige says the "Doctor Strange" movie will be released in 2016.
Movies.com reports that President of Marvel, Feige, wants to feature the superhero in the next phase of the company's comic book movies. During an interview with the site, Feige said, "'Doc Strange,' as I've been saying for years, is a movie I believe we should make -- we're just figuring out how to make it a great movie,"
He continued: "It is in active development right now. Whether that's one of the movies we announce for 2016 or 2017, we have to see. I think it'll be the middle of next year before we announce officially what the post 'Ant-Man' films will be."
Feige also hinted that the superhero movie may be announced next year at the annual San Diego Comic Con. He said "Maybe, Stuff might happen before that. It's too early to tell."
Marvel is currently working on the second phase to its "Avengers" films. The company recently released "Iron Man 3" and is set to release "Thor: The Dark World" in November. The following film will be "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," starring Chris Pine and Robert Redford. Following the release of those films, "Guardians of Galaxy" will be released in 2014 and in 2015. "The Avengers 2: Age of Ultron" and "Ant-Man" are also scheduled for release sometime in the future.
Marvel began its first Avengers phase in 2008 with "The Incredible Hulk" and "Iron Man." The company continued with 2010's "Iron Man 2" and followed up with "Thor" and "Captain America." In 2012 "The Avengers" was released and became the highest opening of all time. The company already has two mystery projects lined up for 2016 and 2017 but Marvel has yet to announce the projects.
