Less than a month after Apple launched its two newest iPhones, the Cupertino-based organization are reportedly set to cut production for one of them.

According to a Wall Street Journal report, Apple has cut orders for the colorful iPhone 5c as the company rolls into the fourth quarter.

The report, citing people familiar with the matter, stated Apple asked its two main manufacturing partners, Hon Hai and Pegatron, to reduce the volume of orders for the iPhone 5c by 20 percent.

The alleged production cuts by Apple isn't all bad news for the Cupertino organization as the iPhone 5s will get an assembly increase. The iPhone 5s apparently encountered higher than expected demand, particularly its gold model. A projected increase of production was not provided in the report.

As Latinos Post reported, the iPhone 5s was outselling the iPhone 5c, based on numbers provided by the analytical and marketing platform Localytics. The firm stated the iPhone 5s outpaced the iPhone 5c by 3.7 times.

Latinos Post also reported Apple's confirmation that nine million units of the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c were sold during its first weekend on Sept. 20. The Cupertino-based organization didn't reveal specific numbers for the iPhone 5s or iPhone 5c. The nine million units for both phones were four million units more than the first-weekend sales of the iPhone 5 in September 2012, which sold 5 million units.

The report comes as Apple will launch the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c with prepaid wireless service Cricket starting Oct. 25. Cricket did not provide prices for the iPhones but are allowing customers to pre-register for further information.

The Oct. 25 release date coincides with a larger launch Apple confirmed for more than 30 countries.

The countries set to debut the iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s on Oct. 25 are Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, French West Indies, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macau, Malta, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Reunion Island, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, and Thailand.
