The addition of Mega Evolution is not exclusive to the latest sixth-generation video games, but it is expanding to the trading card business.

The new Fairy type and Mega Evolution mechanic will debut in the "Pokémon Trading Card Game: XY" expansion with 10-card booster packs debut across North America on Feb. 5, 2014.

Mega Evolution in the trading card game, however, also features hard-hitting attacks and high HP totals similar to the "Pokémon X and Y" video games."Before players Mega Evolve a Pokémon like Venusaur-EX or Blastoise-EX, they must consider the situation carefully because doing so ends their turn immediately, which means they can't attack," stated The Pokémon Company International, in a statement. "The risky move is worth the reward, however, because Mega Evolution Pokémon exhibit a strength that surpasses Pokémon-EX."

The "Kalos Starter Set" is set to include the new Fairy type, which apparently will be the first Pokémon type to be resistance to the Darkness types. The starter set, however, will be released on Nov. 8.

The starter set and the "XY" booster packs will include a code that'll unlock virtual cards for the online trading card game.

The trading card game comes as "Pokémon X and Y" launch across Australia, Europe, Japan, and North America on Oct. 12 with a suggested retail price of $39.99.
