Autumn may be settling into our bones, but things in Los Angeles are just heating up. The fifth season of “NCIS: LA” is now well underway as the series approaches its 100th episode. Fans can only hope for a spectacular milestone showdown, and judging by a new sneak peek, that’s exactly what they’re going to get.

The episode will feature a kidnapping case that involves someone very close to Agent Callen. Showrunner Shane Brennan promises a “very powerful” and moving Callen-centric hour complete with an unforgettable bombshell that will shape the season moving forward. Take an early peek for yourself over at TVLine.

As for Deeks and Kensi’s relationship, Brennan tells fans, “Their relationship can’t go back to normal, because things have changed. We play that out through the first 10 episodes of the season, and then there’s a quite shocking moment in Episode 10 that throws everything awry. And then there’s very much a big, big shock around Episode 18, for both of them, that affects their relationship again.”

Fans have to wonder if these shocks hint at a Kensi pregnancy, whose portrayer, Daniela Ruah, is pregnant in real-life. It would certainly be convenient, but Brennan has other plans. “I will definitely and utterly and totally rule that out. The pregnancy does not play into their storyline at all. Let’s put that thought/rumor/suggestion to rest.”

“We won’t be referencing the fact that Dani is pregnant on the show at all,” he said in a separate interview with Entertainment Weekly. “And through the magic of television and with great editing and acting and great storylines, the audience won’t even know she’s pregnant.”

But not to worry. Kensi and Deeks’ relationship will continue to flourish. “Anyone who has followed their relationship is in for a pretty interesting ride,” he said. “There’s going to be a lot revealed about their relationship. It’s going to go beyond the kiss and it’s going to have some pretty amazing ramifications for both of them. And just when you think it might have sorted itself out, late in the season, there is a revelation, about the two of them, I guess — but in particular about Kensi — that will totally rock their relationship.”

“NCIS: LA” airs Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. on CBS.
