Oh no. It’s happening. The unwavering agony of the “50 Shades of Grey” casting debate has returned. There’s no escape. No matter where we run, the turmoil consumes our everyday lives. Why? Why must we suffer through yet another vigorous casting conundrum? It must be cursed. Just when we thought it was all over, everything falls to pieces. But there’s not much else we can do but pull ourselves up by the bootstraps and prepare for the impending storm. What’s done is done. Charlie Hunnam will no longer be our Christian Grey. Here we go again.

The “Sons of Anarchy” star has withdrawn from the film adaption of “50 Shades of Grey.” According to a statement from Universal Studios, “The filmmakers of ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ and Charlie Hunnam have agreed to find another male lead given Hunnam’s immersive TV schedule which is not allowing him time to adequately prepare for the role of Christian Grey.”

“I wish Charlie all the best. x,” author E. L. James wrote on Twitter. Only 17 minutes prior, she wrote “Okay girls and boys - hold on to your hats - it’s about to get serious…” As exciting as that sounds, we’ve had enough. Why can’t we just end it once and for all? How many more sleepless nights gawking at potential Christian Grey candidates can we take?

On September 30, Hunnam spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the film, to which he admitted, “There are so many fans of that book and I know that on the surface, I’m probably not what everybody imagined. Because reading is so personal and people bring a character to life in their imagination, they feel ownership over that character. That’s daunting if I allowed myself to think about it too much. I’m taking it very seriously and intend to explore the nature of who this character is, what motivates him — and also dress up nice and look good in those suits.”

Well you could have tried a bit harder, Hunnam. Now we’re back to square one. Whoopdeedoo.
