Jennifer López and Kate del Castillo have been chosen by People en Español as the most powerful women of 2013, from a list of 25 women who will be on the cover of the November edition of the prestigious magazine.
According to an article published on its website, the popular Latina singer granted an interview to People in her Hidden Hill home in California, in which she revealed, among other things, that she has begun to write a book in which she narrates the difficult moments she went through after her divorce from singer Marc Anthony.
Regarding the most influential Mexican women, the entertainment magazine highlighted Mexican actress Kate del Castillo as one of the most powerful Mexican women, not only for her professional career on TV, but for her work as an ambassador against trafficking people as well.
People highlighted the work of the Mexican actress who joined efforts with activist Marian González del Castillo --another woman voted for by readers to be a part of the list.
The two Mexican women, who are not related despite sharing the same last name, have carried out great efforts against human trafficking --a problem that Kate says "is growing greatly. It's terrible".
The actress, currently living in Los Angeles, commente about Marian with "She is a woman that has inspired me a lot. Besides saving children, she gives them an opportunity at a new life. She's a superwoman", the actress declared.
Besides the special November edition, the magazine will organize its annual "25 Most Powerful Women of People en Español" lunch in Miami, where television host Ilia Calderón will preside the event.
The ceremony will host Kate del Castillo and Marian González who will attempt to raise awareness on the human trafficking situation in their native Mexico.
The official list of 2013's 25 most powerful women for People en Español will be released in the magazine's November edition. Some other names have already been made public such as host and lawyer Ana María Polo, actress and philanthropist Rosario Dawson and fashion designer Rosita Hurtado, among others.
