Samsung Electronics Co. is waiting for President Barack Obama to issue a veto regarding a U.S. imports ban.

As Latinos Post reported, the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) ruled Samsung violated a number of Apple Inc.'s patents, including one on touchscreen technology and headphone jack detection.

"The Commission has determined that the appropriate remedy is a limited exclusion order prohibiting Samsung from importing certain electronic digital media devices that infringe one or more [of Apple's claims]..." wrote Acting Secretary of the ITC Lisa R. Barton in early August.

The U.S. imports ban on the specific Samsung smartphones and tablets would go into effect Oct. 9 at 12 a.m. EST unless President Obama vetoes the ITC's decision.

According to Bloomberg, the decision could see if the U.S. is showing favoritism to Apple, which is based in Cupertino, Calif.

"The world is watching how Samsung is treated by the United States in this 'smartphone war,'" stated Samsung in a note to Obama's designee to review the case, U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman, on Aug. 28. "The administration has a significant interest in avoiding the perception of favoritism and protectionism toward U.S. companies."

In an interview with Bloomberg Television, Froman stated he hasn't decided on upholding the ITC's decision yet but reassured any decision would not be based on the party's nationality.

Obama had also selected Froman decide on whether to veto a case involving an U.S. imports ban on Apple's iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPad 2. On Aug. 9, Froman vetoed the ban on the three aforementioned Apple devices originally set forth by the ITC.
