Is Andres Iniesta on his way out of Barcelona?

The Spaniard is one of the icons of his era, and while he will likely be remembered for the goal that brought the World Cup to Spain, his image in a Barcelona uniform is practically inseparable.

However, the midfielder, known for his flair and terrific possession skills, recently rejected a contract renewal offer from his current club and his own father hinted that he may be considering a move out of the Camp Nou.

According to The Week, the offer was for approximately 200,000 pounds a week; Iniesta seems intent on cashing in on what will likely be his final payday. The report notes that he has asked the team to up its offer or risk losing him for good.

Teams reportedly interested in acquiring the Spaniard include Manchester United and City. While Iniesta would certainly be a terrific fit for City (they already boast fellow Spaniards David Silva, Jesus Navas and Alvaro Negredo), Manchester United's candidacy makes little sense. Iniesta is only 29 years old and in the midst of his prime, but United should be looking to go younger as the bulk of their current midfield is in the same age range. United was interested in Cesc Fabregas this summer but failed mightily as Barcelona did everything in its power to retain him.

Of course, the big question is whether Barcelona would even let him go. The club is laden with talent and it seems that Neymar is currently the natural fit to replace Iniesta. Iniesta's departure would surely allow the team to field such young talent as Christian Tello and make way for Gerard Deulofeu in future years. Alexis Sanchez and Fabregas would also be secured first team spots.
