Although its frosty winds have begun to gnaw at our vulnerable morning skin, winter is still a season away. There’s still plenty of time to chop wood, replace the screen windows and rake the leaves. There’s no reason to rush into winter rituals, for once it arrives, it will overstay its welcome by several months. The anticipation of winter is exciting. It’s something to look forward to. Between apple picking, warm lattes and the arrival of the year’s best television entertainment, what’s not to love?

September and October mark the return of TV’s biggest and baddest shows. The season premieres of TV’s top dogs scour the first weeks of autumn, but that doesn’t mean that the tap runs dry after the leaves turn brown and fall to the frozen earth floor. “Justified” will return for its fifth season in January, and as fans prepare for its big return, a roundup of recent news from production helps fans with an early glimpse of what’s on the horizon.

New cast members will certainly change the “Justified” dynamic as it heads into its fifth season. For starters, Alicia Witt will be making her way to Harlan County in a major recurring role as the “smart, sexy sister” of the Florida crime lord Dale Crowe Jr., who will play the pivotal villain role in the upcoming season, TVline reports. And the Crowe family continues to grow. A.J. Buckley, from “CSI: NY,” will also join the twisted family as the Danny, the romantic sociopath of the Crowe family.

In Season 5, “Justified” will introduce and follow the exploits of the white trash crime family, led by the ruthless and handsome Dale. On the books, the Crowes run a gator farm, but as “Justified” fans should expect, their real dealings involve drugs and murder. Alongside Dale are his sister Wendy, the public face of the family, and his younger brother Danny, a romantic sociopath, an interesting dynamic that should make for an exciting season.

“Justified” will return to FX in January.
