Dice is prepared to wow both current and next-gen console owners when it launches Battlefield 4 later this year, and ahead of the game's launch (and even the beta program for the game, which starts Oct. 1) the developer recently previewed the variety of multiplayer modes the game will have on the official Battlefield blog.

According to Dice, the game will have seven different types of multiplayer modes available to gamers, with each of those modes playable on the 10 different maps that will come with the game before DLC comes out and adds new options.

The first multiplayer mode is Conquest Mode, which is described as "the quintessential Battlefield mode." Twenty-four players will fight it out on the current gen version of the mode. Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC players will be able to have 64 player brawls. This mode will be available in the beta program for the game.

Domination is very similar to Conquest mode; except players will have to exclusively use infantry instead of the different vehicles that will be available in Conquest mode. Domination mode is also available in the beta program for the game, but the mode will be limited to only 20 players at once instead of 24 or 64 players.

Obliteration is one of the two new modes that will be in Battlefield 4. In this mode, two teams will seek to take bombs to three objectives areas, arm the bombs, then detonate them. There will be only one bomb in play at a time, so players will have to switch gears constantly trying to destroy the enemy positions. Twenty-four players will experience this mode on current gen consoles, while 32 players can play on next-gen consoles.

The other new multiplayer mode is called Defuse. This tension-filled mode has two teams of five, with each player only having a single life per round. A team wins by either taking out every member of the enemy squad, or arming and detonating a bomb at an enemie's base.

Rush, Team Deathmatch and Squad Deathmatch will round out the multiplayer modes for Battlefield 4. Theses modes should be instantly familiar for veterans of the series and will provide some classic action for those seeking a simpler multiplayer experience. Squad Deathmatch will have 16 players; Team Deathmatch will have 20; and Rush will have 24 players on current gen systems and 32 on next-gen systems.
