Fox News began its annual Hispanic Heritage Month series on Friday to salute notable Hispanic businesses and individuals.

The program, which is presented by the Ailes Apprentice Program, is aired during the morning news show "Fox & Friends" at 8:30 a.m. ET. The program is hosted by Fox News correspondent Alicia Acuna, and the series is introduced by former host of "The View" and new "Fox & Friends" co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

The four-part series will profile extraordinary and influential Latino Americans to honor their significant contributions. Hispanic Heritage Month began on September 15 and lasts through October 15.

The series opened on Friday morning with a segment profiling Goya Foods, the largest Hispanic-owned food company in the U.S. The company is known worldwide for selling beans, rice, nectars and regional Hispanic specialty foods. Acuna spoke with Bob and Peter Unanue, who run the family-owned company. The company was transformed from a mom and pop operation selling food to Hispanic immigrants in New York City in the 1930s into a modernized, global company.

Acuna visited the Goya headquarters in Secaucus, NJ. She described the company as a "family affair." Bob Unanue is the company CEO and Peter is the executive vice president. "The men are 13 years apart in age," Acuna said, "but are together in everything that bleeds Goya blue."

The company is a close-knit operation that "has a lot of parties," Bob said.

Goya has been family run for three generations, and was started by the brother's grandfather, who was a Spanish immigrant. Their grandfather saw the name "Goya" on a sardine shipment from Morocco in the 1930s, and instantly liked the easily pronounceable name. He bought the rights to the name and even coined the catchphrase that is still used today, "If it's Goya, it has to be good." There generations later, the billion dollar company produces 2,200 products.

Acuna also chronicled how Goya prides itself on giving back to the Latino community.
