Michael Fassbender has revealed that "Assassin's Creed" will start filming next year.

During an interview with Collider the actor confirmed the film will be made. He stated, "It's happening. It'll be next year sometime."

The actor also said that he was not sure about a "Prometheus" sequel and said that his upcoming role in "X-Men: Day of Future Past" would be an experience. He said: "It will be a must-see experience. Is there anything I can reveal? Nope!"

Fassbender is currently promoting his upcoming film "12 Years a Slave" for which he received rave reviews and is garnering Oscar buzz. He will also be promoting "The Counselor," which also stars Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz, Brad Pitt and Cameron Diaz. The actor is best known for his work on "Inglourious Basterds," "Prometheus," "Hunger," "X-Men: First Class" and "Shame." He is also slated to portray the title role in "Macbeth" and will also star in an untitled Terrence Malick film.

The new adaptation was recently rewritten by Scott Frank after playwright Michael Lesslie wrote the film. The movie will be produced by Frank Marshall with Fassbender also serving as producer. No director has been announced.

The plot of "Assassin's Creed" is rumored to revolve around a man who learns his ancestors were trained assassins after he is kidnapped by a secret organization with ties to the Knights Templar and sent back in time to retrieve historical artifacts. However, the plot has not been confirmed.

New Regency will finance the film while 20th Century Fox will distribute it on June 19, 2015.
